As a man I have to admit I'm not really into knitting, sowing etc I can sow on a button and make temporary repairs if necessary
But I do have a male craft / hobby all the buildings and landscape in the photos below are hand made by me every building, tree, hedge, fence and each little tuft of grass is made individually and placed one by one in its place.
Still a work in progress so far four years in the winter mostly when I cant get out so much.
"A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in."
You share that hobby with my OH, HHog! He makes scale railway buildings from kits, but I'm to have the job of modelling the hills, streams and trees, etc. Frustratingly we have a leak in our roof at the moment so the layout is covered with plastic until it's repaired...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I like you hobo art Fire Lily. Been thinking about trying that myself but first a proper dream catcher with threads and feathers.
Love your railway scenes HHog. When I was little I loathed dolls but wasn't allowed a railway set so I used my pocket money to buy Airfix houses and Matchbox cars and made myself a village with gardens and all sorts. Hope you get you leak fixed soon Liri. That's been going on a long time now.
This pm's patchwork was designated joint craft project to make things to sell at a forthcoming Open Day/exhibition to raise funds for our materials and outings. 3 out of 4 on my table really disliked the projects on offer, wouldn't give them house room and would't buy them and it turns out we're not alone so we shall have to words with the committee if they pull out something as bad next week. I chose the least offensive - a fabric apple to hang in the kitchen with a little note pad and pencil. The other things were even worse dust collectors - 3 fabric birds with heart motifs hanging on a ribbon, a stuffed fabric mouse or a choice between two fabric birds. Why?
I shall post a pic of the offending article when I've finished it.

I’m amazed at all the lovely work you’ve all done. We have a friend in Melbourne who has one room set aside for his railway hobby, HH. If I can dig up a photo, I’ll put it on to show you. Congrats to everyone. Lovely to have a hobby.
Today ive been transplanting Celeriac seedlings and now onto another basket of Lavender to strip of leaves, bunch and hang. There goes my fingernails again. After that, if my fingers are up to it, more practice on my Ukelele chords.
The Black Cockatoos are screeching out side and there is some promising cloud, maybe some rain at last.
Cracking train layout HH. Are the scenes imaginary or real? I work with a chap who works from photographs of genuine bridges, stations etc. The station may be from one town and the bridge from another but the finished article is always fab.
He's what we call here in Norn Iron, a footer! (slang; to mess or play around with). He's French and we suspect the word may have it's roots in his native tongue!
I really need to get my crafty head on. I haven't done anything since Christmas.
H Hog, that's a great model railway. My late husband's hobby was his model railway. He did the layout and I did the scenery. I have a photo somewhere, which I will post when I can find it.
Obelixx, maybe the stuffed mice are supposed to be pincushions. I made one once, but my son, aged about 2, loved it so much I gave it to him - minus the pins!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Busy I did suggest that the mouse being made opposite me could be a pin cushion but it seems they are intended purely to be decorative. Funny old world.
The apple I am making is supposed to hold a wee notebook and crayon. Emphasis on the wee.
PP - unless he has some special local vocab, footer in French is either to do with football or the footer of a page as opposed to the header. I'm surprised the Académie Française hasn't stamped on that one. Bricoler/bricoleur are for DIY stuff or chipoter for messing about.
Go on then, show us your crafty bits.

That's great HH. Definitely a labour of love.
