I am not a knitter and the teddies are so easy, all one piece folded over!
Can anyone help me please? Our sofa cushions are getting a bit flat. I have been told to get some “batting” and wrap it round I dont know what batting is!!! and how do I know how much to get?

I can’t see that batting would be any good for what you want Lily, you could buy new blocks of foam and open the seams. Are you meaning the seat cushions or comfy cushions for show? If the sofa is sagging you can buy supports made of wood to go under the seat cushions.

LP - batting is the stuff used for padding patchwork quilts and comes in different thicknesses. It can also be used on chair seats - eg, I am about to make new seats for our dining chairs. They'll have a wooden base topped with a foam pad then a layer of wadding to soften that and it will all be stapled down to the base with a cotton lining fabric before being covered with the top fabric.
You could use it to wrap round your sofa cushions then add a lining layer to hold it in place before putting back the sofa fabric covers. Measure the circumference of your cushions both ways - latitude and longitude to get the length and width you need.
If that all sounds beyond your skills level, look in local ads for upholsterers or people that make curtains and such. They may be able to help. Sometimes, all you need is a good shake of the cushions and then regular turning round and over to change the pressure points.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

I've promised to knit a teddy for my new grandson - it's a tradition; my OH was given a hand-knitted teddy soon after his birth, and I copied the pattern to knit one for our son. Now he's requested one for HIS son. When (if?) it's made I'll post photos of the 3-bear family on here.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I'm very fascinated by different textile techniques, so I constantly learn more. I can felt, spin yarn, dye wool with plants. I just can't stop. But I craft in other materials to and paint.

LP..."batting" is polyester wadding. Try A.....z...n unless you know of an upholstery fabric shop which might stock it.

Oh my! Thank you, I think you all know what you are talking about!
perhaps Obelixxs idea of looking for a local upholster would be safest!
appreciate your help, I now know my limitations!

Those teddies are adorable!
Aren't they just!

I craft quite a bit. Some examples:
Non plastic bag for veggies
Dishcloths
Gingerbread man
Knitted lace shawl
Smartphone cover
And when your loving stupid dog "wash" away a couple of stains on your dress by eating them, it's good to know how to do some needlework.
Wow Fire Lily. You are certainly accomplished at a wide range of craft work. Lovely.
Thank you Pat.
