    Morning Sir Rod.

    Morning all and sundry....

This morning has that "has rained" look about it. Grass and flowers look the same, weeds have grown a foot! It's to be dry and slightly brighter later. Might tackle the trees.

    Happy Gardening!

pp - I dread to think what you mean by "tackling the trees"image  Chainsaw or minor surgery?

    Morning All,

Lizzie, it does say fine this afternoon where you live for an hour or two - fingers crossed for you. We'll be there (3 of us) rain or shine and I am really looking forward to relaxing after the last week or so. Nothing we can do now to change the outcome - and there will be strawberries and cake floating about all week-end anyway. imageimage

Done all my jobs for today, cakes made, vacuuming (with new Dyson Fluffy - quite impressed with it) and the i******g all finished, nice simple avocado and prawn salad planned for lunch, Lemon Tart just cooling so nothing taxing left to do today. My friend from UK arrives around 11am so plenty of time to chat.

Have a good day all (despite the weather) image.

I need to lift their skirts before they have my eyes out Joyce. I wander merrily along with my lawnmower until I get to t'other end and then there's all manner of wrestling and hopping and skipping and swearing. Vicious brutes! The saying "trailed through a hedge" has never been so apt! image

Aw BL. That's rotten that it's raining on your big day. Maybe it'll clear for later. My mum's neighbour is having a garden party this afternoon and it's raining here too after all the weeks of glorious weather. Sod's law.

Obelixx. Whew. I thought  you'd thought me rude with my  weight / density comment.  Glad I didn't upset you. The other poster was , despite his protests to the contrary, just advertising and I didn't "insult" him.

Dewdrops, hiya and welcome to the forum. Hosta lovers especially welcome .image

Steady drizzle here. Hubby has promised to help in tunnels today. It's been too nice / hot to work in there lately , so handy he's here on a wet day.

Hope the rain is appreciated where it's been dry but not hampering anyone's plans.

Have a lovely weekend one and all.

    Devon.
  • Morning!

    Thanks for the welcome Hosta.

It's still damp and grey here, although not raining at the moment. I've got some throat/respiratory virus, so it'll be minimum gardening today unless I suddenly perk up a bit.

Off to Lidl soon, I see they have some new plant offerings this week. No idea what state they'll be in though, they don't seem to do a very good job of watering them at our local one.

    Morning!

DD and BL - hope your events are enjoyable whatever the weather.

Have been working hard shifting a bulk delivery of pine bark chippings from one end of the garden to the other. Hot work but I now have a 4-6" deep mulch round all the soft fruit which (hopefully!) means no weeding and nice dry paths to walk on to pick the fruit. Nice chunky stuff - no rubbish- looks good - smells like a forest floor image

We have a nice couple of days lined up as a reward for my efforts.

This pm we are off to a blues and beer festival - will be cycling there and wobbling back image

Then tomorrow we head to the Cotswolds in the campervan. Staying o/night for free at the back of a really nice old pub. We'll be having a meal in the pub (asparagus festival is still on - yum!) & if we're not driving we can enjoy a glass or two of wine...

Monday we're going to Hidcote - can't wait - have wanted to go for yonks and might go to the other garden across the road too.

Then Tuesday we head home via some pretty villages and interesting churches.

Hope the rain everybody is wishing for happens at night. Seems funny hearing people in the West Country & Scotland talking about empty water butts.

Enjoy your day everybody - SYL

Pansy, sorry, forgot about bold type in last post.

It's been dry enough here to cause the ground to crack in places. Most odd for N. Devon. Hostas loving the rain I'm sure.

I'm creating a new bed to house some of them . I know the rule books say don't move them in Summer, but they can't read ,  so they'll be fine. image

I've restocked the pond with the water lilies I split in Spring. I can't believe how much they've grown. I thought it would be next year before they were big enough to go back in there.

    Busy , busy , busy.

    Devon.

Topbird, enjoy Hidcote. It's fab, but V busy usually. Try to visit Kiftsgate, it's nearby and well worth a visit too. The view from the pool is one of the best I've ever seen.
