Can anyone advise what plant this is

    It grows anywhere, if coppiced grows back to about 15 feet in as many years on my soil. goes well in a mixed native hedge. Looks good in spring with the catkins. Cast a lot of shade.

    Seeds blow in, though maybe not hazelnuts image birds drop them, as fidget says squirrels hide them. That link has a couple of posts on it and though it may be double dutch to you now, you can look up the terms and see how you can control the size of your plants. They can be used in hedging so you can keep them as small as you want. Maybe you could even let one or two grow up a bit depending on how much room you have to give you a wee bit of height.

    This link is the "go to" page for all our queries and IDs and things. Once you get the name of a plant, in this case Hazel, you can look it up and see what it's eventual height will be, what conditions it likes....etc
