We need, in my opinion, some leaders who have some bottle and will fight for our rights as our grandparents did many years ago, a few Winston Churchills wouldn't go amiss.
I wouldn't disagree with that sentiment, but as we don't have leaders who will fight for our rights we have to do it for ourselves. Can anybody tell me what concessions the mighty Mr Cameron wrestled from the hands of Brussels in his hard fought campaign?
He warned: “I am convinced that Putin wants to see Russia as a great power again.
“I am convinced that he will use every opportunity to achieve that. I am convinced that he sees Nato as an enemy and I am convinced that he could see a scenario and indeed he has war gamed it, he has practised it in which he snatches the Baltic States and then holds Nato to ransom with nuclear weapons and Nato collapses.”
He said Nato needed to “sit up” and take notice and provide a suitable deterrence to Russia.
He said a permanent Nato presence was needed in the Baltics.
In his book, Sir Richard also claims then defence secretary Philip Hammond had wanted “formal action” taken against him when he spoke out about defence cuts in 2014 but nothing could happen because he reported to Nato not to him.
Sir Richard also believes Britain and the EU will be stronger if the former stays part of the union.
Obviously, this is not fact, but opinion. I think it is worth listening to, as he is a former Chief of the Defence staff.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
I've heard lots of things said about the referendum.
The economy will disintegrate and we'll be the Bangladesh of the west. No German cars to buy, only Ford, Nissan, Toyota etc. No holidays to Spain anymore. The Russians will invade us. And all the rest of it.
I decided to ask myself, if the referendum was to 'join the EU' how would I see it as an outsider looking in.
Greece on its knees and bankrupt, Italy technically penniless, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus in the same situation. Germany running the show. A European parliament that can be bypassed by a 'Commission' and foreign courts that can overrule our own. Millions of migrants(at Germany's invite) slipping into Europe. Terrorism in France and Belgium because they don't share intel, that's safety in numbers, not.

Mr Churchill was also behind the original idea of a united Europe, in order to prevent future wars.
A former head of the UK armed services, spoke on Radio 4 this morning, about the increasing possibility of a war with Russia.
I think that a united Europe might be the best way of dealing with this, but this is only my opinion.

Sorry Tetley.
2 separate points.
1 In response to your Churchill quote.
2 the view expressed on Radio 4 this am., by Sir Richard Shirref, former Deputy Supreme Commander of NATO.
Some more stirring from me.

In your opinion Verdun. At least I am trying to distinguish, my opinion from proven fact.
