Only 2 seem decent so far

    Gardeners corner

    And

    Fork handles

Most forums seem to have very few members/ comments.

I use Fork handles, small, friendly, but always open to newcomers. There are a group of people who broke away from GW when there was unpleasantness from trolls a few years ago.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Just seen Obelixx's post and have to say I agree.  As one who doesn't even own a mobile phone,I am amongst the 50% who use a Laptop to access all internet including this site.  Had the GW research shown that, say, 90% of forum users accessed via a mobile device ( and also used it whilst gardening - now that IS multi tasking ), I'd have to admit that some updating was necessary and desirable by the majority and should be followed through.  Democracy and all that.

However, to simply ignore 50% of users seems to be verging on a dictatorship.  Bit strong I know but why ignore those who are probably the big spenders on all things horticultural just to be " on trend" ?

Once desktops and laptops are no longer sold, then it is time to move on but last time I looked, you could still buy them.

Sorry ......rant over...........it's been very hot and sunny here ........overheated brain I thinkimage

See original post  I don't think desktops or laptops will ever become defunct Philippa, some people want a bigger screen for example serious gamers image

Just back after two weeks holiday only to find its all changed, its absolutely terrible, I do have a mobile but use this was for when I sat at my computer enjoying the conversation not when I'm running around town or in the garden.

Regret to say I will be moving on unless they change to a better format very soon.

  • Could I just say for the benefit of those who are troubled by the size of text and don't already know, you can change text size to suit your needs by holding down your control key and rotating the mouse wheel.

I guess you're on a PC David? - no wheel on my mac mouse.image

For those on macs - use command and the plus keys together to increase font size.

    Command and minus to reduce.

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
  • Quite right, Topbird.....mine is a desktop, I prefer a full-size keyboard.

Following last night's intervention by Daniel, I feel more confident that the irksome issues will be addressed.

I also don't like the new format. It's TOO BIG. You can't see as many posts without scrolling down - and is it me???? or does it make other people's eye "twizzy" as they scroll through the posts.                I agree with making the forum usable for all types of internet devices but why change the format. I liked being able to hover over the title of a post to see if I wanted to open it.

PLEASE bring back the old format - PLEASE!!!
