Oh Steve don't tell them that! Those are scary dark places!
I like the distraction of a few fully hounds. Gardeners World *has* to appeal to the masses else it will get taken off schedule all together. If a few dogs do the trick keep it coming.
If however they feel they need a 30 year old slightly scruffy full of enthusiasm blank slate... give me a call
I used to look forward to GW too, but now I often forget to watch and rarely watch it right through I've been watching the reruns of Ground Force, which I used to enjoy but now find it irritating. Maybe I've turned into a curmudgeon!
I'm glad so many of you enjoy the present format of GW. It's just not for me.
Fortunately there are many sources of useful, practical advice - particularly this illustrious website.
Beechgrove somehow manages to survive and flourish on garden content..... without gimmicks.
Balls to you, Nigel!
I always feel that is it's 'gimmick' - Northern Plain Speaking, No Frills - nothing wrong with that of course, but that is its programme style which is as considered and planned as anything on GW.
And some people prefer that and others prefer another style. Just like some were Beatles fans and others preferred the Stones. And then there was the Blur/Oasis thing. And some watch Strictly whereas others watch the dancing on ice programme whatever it's called.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
