Jinxy I think you've misunderstood this thread - I can't think of any other reason for your comment.
Roy has not been 'blasted'. We have been surprised as none of us has experienced poor service from Taylors, and we have suggested that he takes it up with them to give them the chance to put things right and to ensure that he gets the plants he has paid for.
If lots of us had bad experiences of Taylors (as many have had with T&M and others) Royd might just put it down to experience.
However, if lots of us have had good service from Taylors (and therefore recommend them on here) and Royd has had poor service, then it's obviously worth his while to let Taylors know that his plants arrived in poor condition. If they dojn't remedy the problem promptly I will be very surprised indeed.
.... Royd is a newbie - like me - and I will certainly never ask advice on here again after my first encounter.
I'm confused - you've made over 50 posts and as far as I can see I think everyone's been helpful when answering your queries. Certainly Royd doesn't appear upset by any comments or suggestions on here.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Richard Hodson has already explained that he does not have a vested interest in Taylors - quite the opposite in fact - they are business competitors of his.

Sorry to disappoint you but I don't have a vested interest in Taylors, do you have a ' vested interest ' ( whatever that is ) in Homebase or B & Q, Waitrose or Home Bargains ?
Or DIY stores such as Homebase and B&Q. They have good choices and you can imagine how much it costs a company to send out a clematis plant. I hope you don't live in a remote place.. Even supermarkets sell clematises..I got a white camellia for £1.99 in Home Bargains. A bigger version retails at £13 in Waitrose. QD also do a lot of clematis. I got my Broughton star from them.
I have just had a very bad experience with Van Muewen with a delayed order and have found their customer services totally unresponsive, I bought two clematis in early November 2015 and then got an email saying they would not be delivered until May 2016, I was unhappy not get them in in the autumn and having to wait until the spring but got another automated email in May saying they would not be delivered until the end of June - that's 7 months after paying for the plants! I contacted them to complain and ask them what was going on & simply got a refund with no explanation. There replies seemed automated and as though they had not even read my emails. I am annoyed to have missed a whole growing season. Does anyone know a reputable mail order firm where I can order the evergreen clematis Winter Beauty?
it - try Taylor's clematis, or Raymond Evison, or any of the other specialist clematis nurseries.
Don't buy clematis from these other companies - you'll only get those tiny plugs. If they survive, you'll then have to nurture them for a very long time before you get a decent garden plant. A clematis nursery will send a quality plant and offer help and growing advice as well.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thank you for the advice & info. I have learnt my lesson re mail order firms, Van Muewen & their poor customer service. Will order from recommendations today to fill the 2 gaps there from autumn. A company is only as good as how it deals with issues when they go wrong, which they always will & I am a loyal customer to these companies.
I Placed an order with Thorncroft on the 14th June & received the plants which were in excellent condition on the 16th. So thanks am now ready to role.
