It's truly wonderful! We were in the garden yesterday and have a big very hedge that is our boundary - as we sat enjoying our coffee the noise was unbelievable from the nesting birds! Just waiting to hear the sound of the cuckoo and then I know Spring had sprung well and truly!
We have a bird that wakes us up in the morning, seems to be one of the first to start.
It sounds a bit like a long alarm call of a car in between the warbling. I thought it was a thrush or a starling (def not a blackbird, I know that shrieking alarm call), but I saw it yesterday and he was tiny - very much like a sparrow - but not a sparrow, a bit leaner/thinner but still brown, paler chest, paler head. Sits there on his own singing.
You'll hear them on that webcam nutcutlet - along with a lot of others ..... 'fraid I've got it on in the background constantly - waiting for the male to return

Any ideas?
It's a dunnock 8000 - beautiful song for such an undistinguished looking bird.

In the past we have had a few nightingales close by, and their song is electric.
