    Your onions are a lot better then mine.  Most had put on very little growth and aren't worth trying to keep.  I assume it's down to the rubbish weather earlier in the year around here as I've never had any problems in the past.  Spuds were rubbish too.

  • hi chris 172  onions look good  chris  mine  are now on racks I made and drying well had  a good crop  but some where a bit smaller than I was expecting most like a tennis ball but I had forgot  to manure it last year with bird muck  but on the main a good crop me just  being greedy.. garlic is all tied up dug up about 10 plants of spuds and filled some big bread trays so hoping for a good crop  for some reason the out door toms are doing better than expected.((((  chris was it you who said you had hybrid peppers and chilli s that you kept over from last year)   ) this years hybrid plants chillis.// peppers// lots  on plants will be taking of soon to make sause s      ps chris my racks are the same as yours wemust have went to same builder  I have 6 racks but will make room for the turnips//and cabbage to store on them

    Hi all

    Well that's most of my onions preped for storage and the greenhouse just about cleared

    Got a good crop of onions this year so was pleased with my end result ahead of hanging up some where cooler at home.

    Even pickled some of my shallots just ready in time for Chritmas

    Got my seeds ready for next year

  • hi chris yes  onions look well mine all in shed upturned  with necks down the deasent crop  I got the boss  lady  she has made 18 tom/chilli/onion.chutney   cuecumber relish 4 big jars onions 8jars of beet and now  the old lady who I give stuff to gave me a big bag of cookers so whife is making apple pureay   for freezer to use later all go chris the place I get my sets from in Scotland  have a new kind of set  one that you can use over and over again  it is CALLED  KONDOR   the chap that grew the largest onion also grew the  biggest spud one of these over 4 pounds in weight   so I might give them a try this year  this year so far I have about 8 rows left to take up I put less sets in this year gave them all more room to grow and to date have the same as last couple of years   ( and 8 rows yet to take up )  so onwards and forward  rest time now  good hot shower  and rest       keep up good work  chris           michael

  • hi chris just a add on the wife has 2 big pans of green chutney to put in jars so looks like about another load  good job the lads in pub like it        baths shortly for aqua aerobics  ( yes at my age aqua aerobics )

    I love green tom chutney so will be making some of that also as i always get some off the lottie crew as i dont have many this year for a change......Am i doing something right ha ha.....

    I also found another onion i am going to grow next year which i give a trial this year and it was a good surprise. They were call Tosca from seed which grew torpedo shaped will drop photo in and show all. It is also a good keeper
