  • Wonderful few minutes of TV last night showing clematarian Mike Brown in his garden growing ' proper ' clematis.

Such a pity we weren't shown more of this and a bit less of the other dross.

just less filling out with pointless shots of , as David puts it " man pushing wheelbarrow while being followed by dogs"

I recorded it so can flick through " the other dross"

Love the word " clematarian" I wonder if I'm a "Hostarian"?

Fell asleep before we got to the clems.   Have it recorded tho and it's repeated this pm and tomorrow am - which clearly indicates space in the schedules which could be filled with a programme dedicated to clematis and others on major plant groups.

It must be really hard trying to appeal to such a wide and varied audience. If they set up the programme like an agricultural degree most of the country would be bored stiff so I guess they have to find a happy medium.

I love the personal touches like the dogs and seeing how Long Meadow is doing at various times of the year, and the clematis bit was great.

Pruning trees was dull stuff. But there you go.
