Evening all hope everyone is well, I also used to ride horses but only as a youngster, then as a teen we did ride my friends horse to the pub when her Dad wouldn't take us Cruz we were under age...pub didn't have a problem with age or transport method!
Panda so chuffed your job is going great guns!!!! Knew you would find one that recognise your perfectness and fit right in! I will wait with mine until I get a car which is hopefully Easter. More options then, unfortunately the job I'm in has too many negative points although the positive are extremely rewarding but not reflected in the pay either so hunker down and search after easter is the plan
Liri I laughed out loud with the mental image of short legs wide horse scenario
Evening all, Nanna duty today so lots of cuddles and kisses.
I have ridden a horse twice. The first time was a day trekking in the black mountains, it was terrible. In one day it rained, thundered and lightened, hailed and snowed. I had had a perm two days before so by the end of the day my hair looked like I had put my fingers in an electric socket. I was wearing driving gloves and they dyed the back of my hands green and the palms black. My new Levis shrunk and dyed my legs navy blue. When I got home I had to put a cushion in the bath so that I could sit down.
The second time was in Mexico (one of my signed disclaimer expeditions). We rode through a fast flowing river, I was terrified. Through a rain forrest (accompanied by security guards with machine guns) and came through a stand of trees to be greeted by a narrow shale path on the side of a mountain, the drop was unbelievable. I decided the horse was much better at navigating this than I was so I dropped the reigns and held on to the saddle for dear life. That finally cured me of my desire to ride.
Oh dear Yvie! Not the best way to learn to like riding, but it did make me laugh. Not the second time though, that sounded horrific, I hate heights.
Dove, that reminded me of a riding holiday I took my daughter on in Ireland, Dingle. We were both hurting and not getting on because of first OHs death, but we had a wonderful time galloping on beaches and riding up mountains. Connemaras and Irish Hunters though, not heavy horses.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hi everyone, sorry I've been awol for awhile. But didn't feel like posting after my friend died. Still waiting for her to come 'home' from Tenerife.
Used to ride many moons ago. Also did mucking out for free rides. Loved it but gave up when babies came along. Always wanted to ride a horse along the beach and in the sea, one of the things on my bucket list. Got to tick it off last year in Mauritius, hope to do it again one day.
SGL, you were missed! X due to misbehaving tablet with virus, I missed lots of peoples news, so sorry to hear about your friend, I'm sure you u have lots of lovely memories to reflect and remember, big hugs to you x
I spent several summer holidays when I was a child riding a friends pony on the wide sandy beach at East Runton here in Norfolk - it was a bit special - then a holiday pony trekking on Dartmoor with the Farmers Weekly when I was 12. It was brilliant even if I was travel sick every day.
