Hi Runnybeak and FG thanks for your advice, how do you find out who the landlord is? : )

Hi everyone, slept like a log last night.  Been busy in the garden this morning, planted out sweet peas and ivory wallflowers.  Also potted on some grasses. Hope everyone is well.

  • Sorry for delay, got distracted in the garden, uncovered a well too. I knew it was there, it was just overgrown with ivy. image

Here's some scones for you all anyway, just in time for tea. imageimage You'll have to be quick, Charlie is quite impressed.

Pics of the well too, the little patch of soil had a fabulous Blue Angel Hosta in it last year, heavily disguised by the ivy jungle. Can just see it starting off again. I might go out and buy another couple to fill the space tomorrow.

Need to find something a bit prettier too to use as a safety gate, this one was all covered in ivy and is a bit rotten, any ideas anyone?

If I put a climbing hydrangea on an arch 1, will it be too heavy, 2, will it swamp any other climber with it (eg clematis or rose) ???

No sure if a hydrangea would grow 'over' an arch they are quite stiff.

Hello folks- just popping in image

Climbing hydrangea is best up a wall. It clings by adventitious roots like ivy does. You need more of a twiner or scrambler for an arch.

Nice scones DD - could do with one and a cup of tea  image

Nice little wrought iron gate would fit well there.  Fit well....I made a joke! image  Seriously - that would be in keeping with the surroundings. Easy to fit too.

Was tempted to walk again today but thought it best to get a few hours in the garden. Been busy - got all the grass done, edged and scarified. Will give it a feed and then wait till end of April to do a weed and feed. Tidied all borders at the front and topped with compost etc. Planted a few little bits and pieces and washed pots to do some seed sowing.

Need some dinner but can't really be bothered. image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
