I bought 3 bare root black currant bushes from 3fatpigs in March 2017. When they showed no signs of life by April I wrote to the company, who told me they were dormant and to wait to the end of May. This I did but there were still no signs of life. The company did not respond to my emails and telephone call requesting a refund. On the basis of this experience I would not trade with this company again.
I have bought online many times and by far overall I'm satisfied. So ok I have been disappointed but I've also been very delighted and received something a lot better than expected too.
The only thing in my opinion is "How you buy and order stuff online" whatever it may be, products or a service.
Use a "Credit Card" NOT a "Debit Card". By doing this you have additional protection given to you by your card company. Section 75 of the credit card consumers act 1974. This applies to Credit Cards but NOT to Debit Cards.
Simplistically it means that when things go wrong in whatever way you are dissatisfied after trying to get a refund from the seller and failing for whatever reason you can claim your money back directly from the card company instead. This is called back charging. You can't do this with a Debit Card purchase.
The only other thing must be to use a cashback card too, but sadly there aren't any decent / worthwhile cashback cards about at the mo. The only one I can find that could be worthwhile is one at 1% if you shop at ASDA (You get 1% back in ASDA vouchers). Not long ago a 4% cashback card was not uncommon.

I'm planning to visit Burncoose this summer - in fact, I'm planning to go to Cornwall for a holiday as an excuse to visit the nurseries there!
Cool, thanks! I'll look them all up. I suppose I should take the smallest suitcase I have with me so as to have space in the car for all the plants!
Aster2. If you come to Cornwall and are around Flambards in Helston, try out their garden shop.
Thanks, Mel M, I will. It's so nice and useful to get recommendations like this, it's a thing you can't really find online or in guidebooks.

Bought a lot from Van Meuwen noticed they were all posted from Thompson and Morgan at Ipswich.
T & M has been sold recently to new owners, they may well keep the name tho
