" actual criminal damage " is , by definition, a criminal act.

I'll bow out now as we're going round in circles.

    Good luck BEL.

    Devon.

Thanks. Have dropped hints to next door, they like the plant. A barrier would obviously be the best idea. That would be a tough job for me so will ponder on that. In the meantime will deal with what i can on my side. The feedback is very helpful for me, thank you Hostafan and LeadFarmer.

If you could dig a trench as deep and as long as possible in your boarder as close to the plant as possible to expose any creeping roots, this could help. Or maybe even drop a piece of tough plastic or metal in there, and back fill then this could help stop them growing through.

Some bamboos send out runners underground which pop up in other gardens. Other bamboos send shoots up at the base, so they don't spread. Your neighbour has chosen the wrong type, maybe they could be peruaded to replace it?

Perhaps they might be persuaded to help BEL dig the trench and build the barrier, or contribute to paying to someone doing that.

Thank you will keep at it!
  • After watching the rather exciting episodes of Big Dreams Small Spaces, I felt so inspired that I went out and bought some compost.  I now can't wait for Friday so Monty can show me what to do with it!

Your post made me laugh, Danae.  I love a "gardener" who's almost as good as I am! Never mind though, Monty and Nigel will be back on Friday, God will be in His Heaven and all will be well with the world for at least 30 minutes...

  • Hi Phaedra, glad my lack of expertise made you laugh. I deserved it..

But, you're right. Spring is cominng, bringing us Gardeners' World, Monty, Nigel and happy Friday evenings; well, at least for thirty minutes!
