I can wait.   We are out at dance class every Friday evening anyway so I have to record it which does mean I can FF the bits of no interest of which there seem to be more and more in recent years tho still not as many as when the Buckley person was in charge.

I do hope the new person is substance and not fluffy filler.

Beechgrove has more to offer for me as they seem to pack in so much info without being hurried and no time wasting on lingering shots of wheelbarrows and dogs.  Love dogs and have 2 of my own but no time for them in a  30 minute show.

Id prefer to see more of Mony working in his own garden. I often FF through the bits where they visit other gardens etc.

  • I'm away for the first programme of GW so will be picking it up on the Iplayer at some stage I do like Monty's style of gardening as he is very handy on's. I would like to see more plant gardening as opposed to kitchen gardening but I suppose they have to cover all aspects. Alan Titmarsh was, for me, a better presenter and gardener for the programme as he seemed to relate everthing in simplistic form for the novice gardener. There should be a lot more gardening programmes on the tv as there is such an in balance when it come to quality gardening shows

  • I can't find any fault with Monty's style of relaxed gardening - it is just the right type of wind down presentation for the start of the w/end. If  you fast forward the "boring" bits you miss out on so much information that may one day be so useful to you.

What did you think of last night's Show on Small Gardens? I enjoyed it, but still feel we have had too many of these 'before' and 'after' programmes.

  • We haven't watched it yet - but hope to view it tomorrow night - something to look forward to after a day of being out in the garden if the weather is favourable.

I enjoyed it. But I think the original format, where they start in winter and go through all the seasons worked better than the four months here. And, somehow, I felt there wasn't enough gardening. (Mind, that might just be a reflection of my own frustration with the weather that keeps me away from my patch.) Perhaps it's a combination of the two - in four months, although you see change, there isn't as much change as there would be after a year.

I thought that what the lady beekeeper achieved on the allotment, in just four months, was jaw-dropping. Such an awful site and she did wonders with it.

my only issue about it was when dear MD said of ground elder " the only way to get rid of it is to dig out every bit of root " INCORRECT: Glyphosate works wonders on it.

He chooses not to use chemicals but he shouldn't assert his preferences as fact.
