THESE NEW PART TWO THREADS NORA
these newly "unelected" part 2 threads are now designated as being yours NORA. Why is this? The author of any and every thread should continue with the acknowledgement of the original author.
At least 2 threads are now affected.
If you can copy the title of a thread you can copy the author's name
what is the view of forum members?

I like the idea of a smiley with a halo too, when you say a wasp chewing expression Tetley...do you mean sour faced...
I actually don't find it any quicker with the part 2 threads than the original ones. I would also like to have gone back to the end of the threads rather than the begining. Maybe Nora could put originally started by..........
They show Nora's name 'cos she's the one that physically 'did it' - she didn't type her name in, that's just what the software recorded. She has done her best to attribute the person who started the thread. It's possible that's all that can be done without totally re-writing the software.
Just for the record, I don't feel proprietorial about threads I've started ... it may just be me, but once a thread has reached one thousand posts I feel it's taken on a life of its own ... don't really give a stuff whether it has my name on it or not
.... there's not a prize ............................ is there?

Have no axe to grind on this particular subject, but I will say that I have voluntarily asked for sweet pea threads to be locked and started new ones, on the basis they were proving difficult to follow.
That's a very good point David - if someone wants to keep an eye on a thread they started, when it gets to around 1000 posts they can start a new one and ask Nora to lock the old one
As I said, for me any Chat-type threads I start are something that I feel I offer to the members to do what they like with (within the rules of the board of course
). If a thread dies out after a few posts that's fine, and if it runs and runs like the proverbial Mousetrap, that's because of the forum members, not because of me
However, with David K's Sweet Pea threads it's important that they can be identified as his, because we're searching specifically for his advice

You will have noticed NORA turns green when changing the thread, is that envy I ask at the virtuosity or even audacity of those daring to start something new. My own take on it is you start a thread which then takes on a life of its own and the original theme is lost somewhere in the past, the river straight and true becomes the Nile Delta of subjects making their way by many streams to the sea. Some of those streams I would not wish my name to be attached to and most threads disappear off the bottom of the page never to be seen again, why would it matter I ask. Are our ego's such we wish to be remembered as the Shakespeare of our time " alas poor Verdun I knew him well" hmm doubt that. Agree some threads such as the Sweet Pea run and run though people tend not to read back just ask the same question each year so may as well start anew each year, my own Lawn area finds the same questions over and over because people do not read back, David myself and others just re answer as people who ask think it only happens to them.
Hello Zoomer are you still getting into Stockton if so you will have seen the wonderful changes that have brought the High Street back to life, it is not all doom and gloom if councils put some thought into it.
