First poppy of the season. It's one that was here when we moved in and always self seeds everywhere. It's a bit blousey for my tastes but I have a soft spot for them.

Wonky, I don't think it is Geranium Painter's Palette, I got it from Wilko as a bare root perennial that was sprouting in the plastic bag so I wasn't sure it would take but it seems happy now, 2 years 'ish on.  I'm pretty sure it's Splish Splash after a bit of research.

    imageLiriodendron,

I have Hosta Patriot growing by the pond and it gets very little damage, it's variegated with very tough leaves and in full sun all day with no scorching, maybe not the best place for a hosta but it doesn't mind full sun.

    Gorgeous Joybell.   image

I think many hostas are perfectly happy in sun as long as they have enough moisture below.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Lovely gardens! My hostas variegated green and white  (all the same variety don't know what) do better in the sun

Thanks for the advice.  I think I'll give 'Patriot' a try - and/or maybe one of the other thick-leaved varieties.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Lovely pics everyone and great inspiration!

Your garden is looking great Wonky.

Hosta leaves burn in the sun in Dordogne, but they probably won't this year if it carries on like this, cooler and wetter than many parts of the UK.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
