This one was planted at the same time as the magnolia-about 25 years ago. It gets very little direct sun but is sheltered from the wind, which possibly balance out

The others are in full sun but bloom a couple of weeks later.

About geum cooky. I have it, it blooms early, is very vigorous-I split it almost every year.

About the same size as borisii but much longer bloom period.

  • 25 years old - that is fantastic value for a flowering plant - obviously likes it's position in your garden and no doubt you have looked after it too.

Thanks for the info regarding the geum Cooky - seems that I have chosen well today - I look forward to many little geums in years to come, I collected plenty of seed from the Geum Mrs. Bradshaw last autumn so will hopefully do the same with Cooky.

david10 how are your Geums doing? I saw a picture from last year of yours which had a geum flame of passion on show.  I like it some much I got myself one a few weeks ago image can I asked what conditions you grow your in ? And how fast it clumping up? I bought Tai Mai at the same time, hoping to plant that with allium christophii and salvia nemorosa caradonna.

perki, flames is a very strong grower, and a fast clumper, easily split. the pic is of one I split last autumn that has become almost as large as the mother plant. Full sun and good to great soil and it will bloom for months.

looking at the pic I realized it looks like it's in the weeds-actually the foliage of thousands of spring bulbs.
