Two weeks ago, a flock of redwings stripped the large holly of berries. It's in the woodland just outside the kitchen window and every year I spend ages just watching them.
The black birds have had all the pyracantha, cotoneaster and pheasant bush berries.
Nearer Christmas, I will will cut some yew, ivy and choisya to do an arrangement along with some candles and the addition of artificial berries.
I am expecting redwings shortly. They usually come to us when they have exhausted the supplies of berries in the east in a harsh winter. Lots of pinecones waiting for me to pick up for Xmas.
The last of the roses - aym280 - "The Generous Gardener" this bush is called. It flowers for months on end and has lovely big hips on now which are orange.
Everywhere is white again and only 5 degrees forecast for Bristol today so very cold though dry and sunny. I think it is a cooking and baking day for me today. It will keep me warm and replenish my stocks. Next week is set to warm up again. I hope you are all managing to stay warm.
Morning Marion, sorry ive not written until now, we didn't have a good day yesterday as our car broke down and ended up costing £230, the piston on one of my front brakes had seized which caused my break pad to get jammed on the wheel disc people where beeping at me because my car wasn't moving fast enough, so ignorant!.
nice to have you back Marion your pictures are lovely, I still have some flowers left same as Aym, here's one of my chrysanthemum .....
James Wong in the Guardian is writing about "Lawns" without grass this week! Always knew my gardening was at the forefront when it comes to design! I would not recommend Pratia though unless you have a very large garden like me and most people don't nowadays.
I have just taken a picture of my Owl family for my fb friends who love seeing them in my pictures so thought you might like to see them I have an Owl watch too. And a private club of "Wise Old Owls" but you have to be 80 to get into that one.

I have been up the garden and put my booty into water.
Unbelievable that such unrelenting hard frost has not spoiled a thing.
