I've got Persicaria amplexicaulis 'Rosea' flowering at the moment ..... it's looking lovely in the low sunshine. The Astrantia major 'Ruby Wedding' in front of it is also still going strong and makes a nice contrast.
Next year I'm going to look out for some Veronicastrums which should like the same dampish conditions.
Gardener and beekeeper in beautiful Scottish Borders
A single bee creates just one twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in her lifetime
I like persicarias, not invasive here, but extremely good doers, which I like Which ones are you going for Verdun?
Invested in some actaeas a few weeks ago, had one for ages and it didn't do anything until this year when it suddenly grew and flowered so I took the plunge and ordered a couple more. In hindsight I bought too small a plant for the difficult conditions I planted it in so it has done extremely well
Another plant I've invested in for next year is the centaurea. I never looked at them before because everyone has them, but first Fishy offered me C Montana which has grown on nicely and I've since acquired dealbata and cheiranthifolia
Hi Verdun if you want a baby tetrapanax I have a few root cuttings that are growing well , you can have one of them if you pm me your address , they are small but if kept under cover this winter should make nice plants next year , I will also throw in a small amorphophallus konjac bulb if its something you are interested in

I passed Firkin Point on Friday Hosta...
You're almost getting the hang of that quote thing now
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I am very tempted by Tetrapanax davej. It'll fit in very well with my jungle border.
Do you grow any other "tropical" type plants?
