The day after Great Dixter we went to Hever Castle. The castle is more like a beautiful, comfortable Tudor manor house inside and the gardens are lovely. There are mini gardens, each with it's own character, down the sides of the big Italian garden.
For those who have just arrived on this site, I live in France and we are on holiday in England visiting gardens.
The oak tree link won't work so I'll leave this post and start again and see what happens.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
...I liked Hever very much the only time I've been ... so romantic... nearby Chartwell, Winston Churchill's home and garden is also well worth a visit...
..there are some other famous and/or gorgeous gardens on the Sussex/Kent border area and when I lived there these are some I used to frequent....
if you're still around there or anyone else for that matter, you might care to take a look.... Merriments also has a really good plant centre... Wych Cross one of the best places for container roses and companion plants of all kinds...
I miss all these very much... and I hope any reader is able to put them on their list of places to visit at some point....
I love Pashley Manor, Merriments and Nymans too. Been to Pashley and Merriments several times as my mother used to live in Battle. She's no longer with us now. May go to Pashley if we have time. OH has never been.

.. I'm glad to hear you know of these already and obviously having a lovely time in England at the moment - I hope...... shame about the weather.... I used to live near Battle too, so they were fairly local to me...

The roses weren't out yet at Hever although it was their rose week - weather again.

We went to Wisley on Friday, weather a bit gloomy, but it only really poured when I went to buy plants - so I didn't spend too much!
Lovely pics Busy. Did you see the sheep killer plant?
Are you home yet? If so how's your garden and the weather?
