She's not a trained or experienced TV presenter or commentator.  She is an experienced dancer, world champion, teacher and judge.   I think she can be forgiven a few gaffs if they're not major.  None of the other judges made allowances for Jonny's handicap affecting his posture and he did have another foot to point.    He said himself he appreciated being treated and judged as an equal, not an amputee.

I don't always agree with her - but I'm an amateur with only TV view of what's going on so know less and see less - but I do think she has made some constructive comments about technique, posture, presentation and also about the different choreographies of the professionals.   I hope she gets the opportunity to settle in and come back.  Len didn't tour either.  He has a school to run too plus other programmes to present and other competitions to judge.

I loved Susan Calman's reaction and comments in the results show when she discovered she was in the dance off with Alexandra.  She was certainly the right choice to go from a dance point of view, but I think many will miss her bubbly enthusiasm.  Although I'm sure she was in there for comedy value as far as the production team were concerned, she gave it her all unlike some of the 'comedy' turns in previous years.

I think Susan truly enjoyed learning to dance and that was what was important to her.

  • I loved Susan's reaction too. She improved greatly every week.  She seems a really lovely lady, I think she will be missed too. Susan's in the tour though, so she will get to dance again. image

AB was the better dancer, but I didn't think much of her dance this week. Thought it rather boring. No where near as good as Kara Tointon a  few years ago.

Yes I think so too Joyceimage

I thought Susan’s attitude was spot on image

Unlikely to see next Saturday’s show as at SIL

Susan was funny and good-natured and excited to the end.  She's clearly had a ball and has improved a great deal.  Given their relative starting points she's progressed more than Debbie or Alexandra and has tackled each new dance with great positivity but was never going to have their elan or flexibilty.  I'm pleased she's gone out with an American Smooth and not an Argentine Tango which I think would have been a step too far for her.

Didn't like Alexandra's rumba the 2nd time around either.  No understanding of the rhythm and very mechanical.

I agree.  I think she was fortunate to be up against Susan in the dance off.  Against a stronger dancer I think she would have been gone.

D.R. I too thought Kevin having to apologise to his wife because of lurid headlines in the press was beyond the pale. Newspapers are losing ground rapidly so they print rumour and outright lies to grab an extra customer, the Mail which I buy on a Saturday for the TV part prints a rebuttal nearly every week accept a printed SORRY in the back pages does not undo the wrong they did in the first place.

Obelixx, I am with you it was good from the point of view of a none dancer but i am afraid my old dance teacher Ruby (or Carmen Miranda as I called her) would have been waving her hands about, No No No, get inside the skin of your partner, touch bones get very personal then she would grab this blushing youth, "err" me and show how it should be done. Must admit it was even better than a bacon sandwich if I admitted it, being as one with such a lovely lady in such a sensual dance certainly raised the spirits and things. Wonder what happened to Ruby?

  • So......who do you think will go tonight? image

I don't think Gemma made enough effort to master technique this week.  Not enough to be having fun at this stage.  They need to be remembering their routines  and dancing well, not making elementary mistakes,   I like her a lot but she's not taking it seriously enough.

I really disliked Molly and AJ's rumba - agree with Craig about dancing by numbers.  No idea what Bruno and Shirley were watching.  I hope she goes but fear it will be Gemma.

Pity Davood lost his balance as he did some very good moves early on but it's the wrong music for an Argentine tango.  Needs more fluid music with a  softer tempo.  Not a gripping choreography either.

Loved Debbie's American Smooth - choreography, performance, music and costumes.   Didn't cotton to Alexandra's Charleston.  Best dance of the night was Joe and Katya.  Brilliant routine, beautifully performed.
