  • We have been round all this before. For me it is simple she was A PROFESSIONAL she had her own dance company! You'll be suggesting that Wanye Sleep or Arlene Phillips be allowed to compete next.

Lain R, Why not at least it would have more buzz than at the moment and we could guarantee they would all be out by week 9 only Babes are allowed to win as ageism creeps in more and more.

Star Gaze Lily no offence just like a good argument, peace be with you I will get the pipe.

    Frank.

I don't think it's  an age thing, it doesn't bother me at all how old they are. Ruth Langford is 57/8

Like lain says, she was a professional and she had her own dance company.........bought by Paul Daniels.  I think it's a good mix to have varied ages, but think it should be for people with no dance experience.

Oops I've mentioned her again image

Star Gaze Lily, yes you did, NAUGHTY, I brought the pipe what did you put in it? Please tell me how you prove none of them had any dance experience, it is their word. In this day and age where even the youngest get some form of Rhythm and Movement, where U tube is full of clips of babies doing dances as seen on TV, where every college in our area runs Media and dance or movement classes, all my grandchildren from 8 (this week) to sixteen have had Ballroom lessons since old enough to stand up. To me it is a myth, very few people and even less who make media their day job could have gone through life without dancing round their handbags and that is only the men. From experience dancing since I was ten or so and dance school know you cannot learnt to dance each week as they do with a few hours practice, it takes hours, we would practice for six months and could not guarantee to put on a show like Alexander or Gemma did this week both excellent footwork, they are being taught finesse Posture how to position feet and hands to please the judges plus the steps they have never seen before? On my Aunt Nelly's whale bone stays, it was admitted very reluctantly they all have extra tuition from specialists in what ever dance they are doing, we never see that on the VT's do we.

I could not imagine a more boring show then twelve people with no rhythm musicality poise or posture all dancing much as Susan is reduced to now, I for one would not be watching not when we can watch dancing with the stars who do not claim to be dance free.

It's easy to find reasons why any number of participants shouldn't have been allowed over the years.  This year, apart from Debbie, there's Alexandra who worked in a production where Craig was the choreographer and allegedly she had coaching from him.

Jonny Peacock made me laugh on Takes 2 last night when he was asked who he wanted to win.  He said "Aston".

  • I wanted Aston to win too?

I read that about AB too,  I'm hoping one of the others wins, but it's probably not going to happen image

I had thought that Aston would win. I like Gemma, probably because of her smile, but I'm sure she won't win. I think AB is the most likely, but Davood has improved so much he may have a chance.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • There is a world of difference between someone who has done a bit of dancing and someone who was a paid professional. I am aware that most drama schools have their students do a dance module as well & that several previous contestants have had that background. But one module of dance at college, a bit of social dancing or jigging about to a pop video is hardly the same level. It's not an age thing for me at all when I saw her the first week I thought wow good on her, I still think it is admirable that she has kept her fitness etc up.

We are never going to agree on this one Frank, your knowledge & experience of dance far exceeds mine but if she wins  me & my OH have  vowed to stop watching & a lot of other people feel the same.

I get more enjoyment from seeing the progress some of the dancers have made and pay less attention to those with lots of experience.
