At the end of last year I took off 193 unripen figs , see picture of tree
It is south facing and against a water cube , the only thing I can think is to put a reflector that you put into the front window of a car , to reflect sun back on to plant
We don't really have a long enough summer to get them to ripen unless they've overwintered. I remove all unripened figs at the end of September, leaving only tiny ones no bigger than my little fingernail. With luck and a bit of fleece they withstand the winter and ripen the following summer.
You could be right ... but I have had ripe ones here in Norfolk and we've only had our tree three summers ... and a friend out in the wilds of Norfolk used to a large crop of ripe ones most years - I think she was more ruthless than I am and removed large unripened ones earlier than I do - this stimulates the formation of lots more little fruitlets to overwinter - I'm going to be more ruthless in 2017

I'd also do some pruning http://www.gardenersworld.com/plants/plant-inspiration/pruning-a-fig-tree/
