I used to have spaniels, to them, horse manure, fresh, was a doggy delicacy as was the odd fresh bit of cat poo. Not to my taste. especially when they came to you afterwards expecting to lick you stupid! I could never deter them as they found it long before I was close to spotting it.

    What a picture Tetley!! image

Our dachshund used to eat anything and I mean anything. We kept horses back then and one of the ponies was gelded. However he developed an infection and walked around the field trailing pus. I won't say any more but it involves said dachshund image

  • My dogs (golden retrievers and labrador retriever) don't bother with the horse poo in the garden.... why should they when there's masses of nice warm fresh stuff in the fields!

But for a special treat for a retriever there's nothing to compare to a swim in a dirty stream a dry off rolling in some fox crap and followed up by a good chew on an old piece of horse hoof trimming!

Am soooh glad |i am not alone, I have a Border Collie puppy, bought 4 weeks ago, now 12 weeks, found some cat poo near my veg plot, boy does it stink, and so did her breath! Hubby telling her off, I said she doesnt know what it is!  My last Collie ate it all her life, was worried about nasties in it, dont know if owners have treated or whether dogs can get cat germs?  Mine are treated once a month.  My other dog now 9, when he was a puppy, we used to walk him on Ashdown Forest, loved horse poo.   I always understood veg eating animal poo was OK.   Course puppies eat everything, my slippers, fingers, wires, furniture!!!
