In Northern Ireland we have a rain and wind warning for today and tonight image

Nothing unusual, I don't think we have had one day without rain and the central heating has only been off for one week, ah well, I suppose its good for growth? Apparently we are due for a decent day on saturday, fingers crossedimage

Have to say I'm fed-up with the endless sun here in Essex (sorry!)
My 150' garden faces south and has almost no shade. I'm not a sun-lover any more (too much sun damaged skin) but there's no escape from the never-ending blue skies.
The last few days have seen some cloud, so have been making the most of it.
As for rain..... almost none since April - a couple of sharp showers last week which filled my water butts for the first time this year!
I have lost many perennials thanks to the lack of rain, and even established trees are loosing leaves already.
I just which there could be more of a balance - lovely to see the sun, but how about a drop of rain now and then - please....

Pete, I think you have just summed it up, it's the lack of balance that worries me.

the extremes are rather concerning.  Sorry about your loss of plants.

Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.”

On balance, the garden has been happier with the weather than I.

We've had sun and rain, but no really decent temperatures.

My body doesn't really function well below 20C

Thanks Lily - it's saddening to raise plants for seed, tend and care for them to maturity then loose them tanks to the weather.
I've never known such a lack of rain. Not had proper rain since about February.
The forecast often shows showers on the way - but they fail to materialize.

I spend 45 mins a day watering the toms, baskets and pots - sometimes twice a day.
Can't weed anything properly as the ground is like concrete so weeds just snap off and regrow. Grrrrrrr

    I could go on......

    Pete, there's only one solution.

Move to Devon, best move I've ever made.

    Devon.

I do love Devon, but also got a hankering for the French Pyrenees.
£100k can buy a big detached property with views of snow-capped mountains and acres of land - maybe one day....

Pete, I'd pay good money never to see snow , or frost ever again.

I'm a real hot house flower.

Pete, if it's what you want to do, go for it, or at least aim for it.

Clearly I don't know you, your age, or circumstances. Dreams can sometimes be made to come true.

I never dreamt I'd have an 8 acre garden , but I do now. Hard work pays off.

Heard of someone who died the other day and he'd planned to retire next year and travel the world with his wife .

    Life isn't a dress rehearsal.
