1,2,3. Polar Bears. 2 females eating a Beluga whale carcass. This was the second encounter I had, the first being a mother and cub on an iceberg, although too far away for good pictures.

    4. you will have to take my word for this, but it is a pod of 11 Beluga whales. Beautiful pure white creatures, virtually hunted to extinction. The scientists I was with are trying to study these creatures, although this year it was hard, on account of less of the sea ice having melted than usual.

5,6. General scenery. Hope they show the pristine beauty of the place. We must protect such places.

Stunningly beautiful - and how wonderful to see polar bears in their natural environment. Thank you for sharing - truly a trip of a lifetime.

Your photos were a wonderful way to start my day. I am worried what we do to our planet and agree we have to protect such natural beauty.

A few more pictures. The birds in case they are too small to see are puffins.

Luckily fidget didn't have much to do, except sticking a lot of stitches in one of the guys leg, after he stumbled into a crevasse. It was fun doing that on the glacier whilst the other guys stood around with guns in case a Polar bear was attracted.

Earlier this year someone was savaged after walking to far from his camp, by himself and with no weapon. He had an arm torn off, which might have been more tricky to manage.
