Oh dearest panda, the shredding of a plum is a deeply grevious thing but having four is always a bonus!
My pear tree only has two fruits this year, it did have three until I had a pruning moment because two branches were rubbing together. I should have checked first...
Teeny apple tree has lots and I had to thin them aggressively.
Peach tree in pot has three fruits and this is the first year it has had any. Time will tell if they make it to edible size!
Thanks Runnybeak, they sound rather more successful than they are. I just decided a couple of years ago that I'd spread a few round the garden, all are on dwarfing rootstocks so everything will stay small. Eventually as things mature (this gardening lark is a long game after all), hopefully they will fruit productively.
Speaking of plums - a small shrub/tree appeared on the top of a contour bank where we need to take a sharp turn to drive to the house. We decided to leave it there as a marker for unwary visitors, so they could follow the right track. I , after a cursory look, assumed it was an apple, since there are lots of self seeded apples in the creek line that go down to the river.
Anyway, last summer, I was negotiating the turn when something bright red caught my eye in the tree/shrub. On inspection, I discovered 3 small plums on the plant, one of which looked inviting. It was delicious so I told Hubby to keep an eye out for the next one to colour up.
Guess what - when I checked a couple of days later, no green plums. The birds had beaten me to it! Some plums are out to beat us!
I ran over a random stone last year in the middle of the lawn, it pinged off and went straight into the glass conservatory door panel .... which smashed.

lol Charlie.
I'm sure some will hate you for it though.
Steve, I keep my plums well away from wasps.

So far our flying friends have not been a pecking at my plums...
Lucky you!

I thinks that's called Murphy's law.
