Having only been on the forum for a short while, it would be beneficial if people put in their location as we all know plants grow differently depending on area.

Many forum posts I have seen ask people where they are based to give relevant help.

Other forum sites I am on have the option of location and this is pinned under the avatars on the left on every post.

My current avatar is an aquilegia that I grew from seed and I'm happier to have that on instead of a personal selfie!

Well, paulk2, there are quite a lot of forum members in the sheffield region. Watch out for our next trip.

Paulk2 I agree, I've asked many times for people to put some information in their Public Profile - location, soil type, the size and sort of garden they have, hat size, inside leg measurement, favourite sandwich - that sort of thing.image  So few people do it, and yet it would really help to answer their questions.

I'm in several pictures of group outings, but because of the work I did my avatar stays as it is -  it's Dove by Picasso ,if anyone's interested  image

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Dove - Surrey, 30' by 90', mostly gets sun, quite heavy (the soil, not me), 59cm, 34"' and definitely a BLT...

Jimmy - the point wasn't to encourage people to check me out old chap, this was driven by my mid-spent years in chat rooms and always wanting to see who I'm talking to. Nothing sinister. I don't have wax dolls of you all waiting for a face so I can start inserting hat pins... image

  • Haha, yeah, I know. I can smell sinister a mile off image

Check you and yer fancy long legs!

I was dragged screaming on to Facebook by my daughter , within a week I was inundated " oh hi are you the "XXXXXX" I met on vacation back in the 80s "........and on and on and on.......I closed the account within 24 hours ......my avatar is just a nice sunset over the lake off the back garden and that's the way I like it image

  • The long legs fill the space between my bum and my feet. The are also almost precisely the wrong shape and size to make the purchasing of trousers and jeans reall difficult!

Steve - I look exactly like my avatar pic...the one on the right that is....imageimage

I'd frighten everyone away too if I put a photo of me on here image

My two girls are very photogenic- unlike me. Hate having my photo taken image

I always mean to put more info about my garden on the profile but I never remember. There was nothing in it when I moved here anyway! Soil - clay mostly, inside leg - no idea, hat size was 6 and 7/8 (in old money when I rode) favourite sarnie - chicken or tuna with home grown greenery image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I feel your pain. It's not easy trying to find a 32" waist with 29" inside leg either. Everyone else on this island must be deformed. It's certainly not me!
