Recently returned from a fortnight in North Devon with our extended family. Lots of time spent on several of the local beaches (Croyde, Saunton, Woolacombe) while the younger ones surfed, but managed to squeeze in a couple of garden visits.
RHS Rosemoor
The weather was switching all day between bright sunshine and overcast drizzle (quite common and why the county is so green and lush)
Lovely to see Rosemoor at this time of year, we went one June.
Last time I saw Sissinghurst was April 2013, cold and everything was late, so good to see that. Have been to Great Dixter a few times, always gorgeous. Thank you.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I visited Gresgarth Garden last Sunday . It's the home of Arebella Lennox Boyd, a garden designer.
Didn't take any pics, 2nd time I've been though. The garden is set in about 12 acres. On both occassions Arebella was out in the garden. Lovely Lady, very approachable and happy to give gardening advise. You need to recognise her first, first time I visited she was walking around with a trog in her hand weeding. Second time she was pruning with secatars in hand.
A river runs through the estate and there are three woodland walks.
If anyone is in the area would reccomend a visit. It's at Caton, Lancashire. Next open day is in September.
Recently visited Capel Manor Gardens, Enfield, but not a great deal to see as most of the summer colour had died. Early autumn plants not yet available. Has anyone visited these gardens in June when the summer flowers would, hopefully, be at their best? I want to organise a coach trip from West Sussex but need to know the best time of year to go. Wonder if anyone has any views or comments to make regarding these gardens.
