I once saw a zoo advertise "Lion Poo Pellets", which they said would deter cats. We didn't have a garden then, but now have cats using the veg garden, including new raised beds, as a litter tray, not very hygienic. Has anyone tried the Lion Poo Pellets, do they work, and does anyone know where I might get them mail order if they do work?

  • You can get lions roar (and imitation products) online but if you have large borders in my experience it is very expensive and doesn't last very long.

Lion Poo didn't work in my garden I'm afraid.

Thanks for the advice - won't waste my money on the lion stuff then

  • My raised bed, full of leeks, onions and garlic was covered with plastic netting held down with tent pegs, raised in the middle with sticks and had slates either side to block it from cats - last week, two days running - cat poo! Damn thing had got through a small gap between the slates. Now my husband is on garden duty - whilst I'm at work he is out there with loaded water pistol at the ready image

I put wooden bbq skewers in the soil pointed end up !  in any bare patches of soil. this stops them  but it depends how much bare soil you have you may need a few packs of skewers.

Thank goodness I found this thread...

I have two cats, who are house cats, and unlike some, I clean their litter trays out as soon as a deposit is made...

However, there's a patch in my garden that keeps being used as a portaloo for the local moggies, and as a cat lover, I don't want to hurt them.  However, as someone who's built their big garden from scratch, including a massive herb garden, I don't appreciate my hard work being s*** on!

I'm trying the wooden skewers, and as luck would have it, I have a huge curry plant, so I've covered the area in cuttings. Hopefully I won't have to waste my precious free gardening time in picking up after other peoples animals... Grr...

Wish me luck - can anyone tell me what a water-scarecrow is, how much they are and where to find one?

    Thanks!

You get them on the t'interweb Rach. I got a cheap one as the Contech ones are about 80 quid. Mine was £20.

i'll try and find the name of it. Works a treat image

I got fed up being stabbed by skewers...and they didn't work either...image

Just had a look - it's called PestBye Jet Spray by Primrose. Has a battery sensor which activates the jet of water. I got it on Amazon. It's a bit flimsier, but does the job.
