Boots the Bengal fully obedience trained. I just shout BOOTS! In my fiercest voice and he leaves well alone. Neighbours cats don't.come near. Bengals very very territorial! Will catch and eat the neighbours rabbits though!!

Getting seriously fed up with a cat crapping on my lawn now.... Always had short grass and it craps so left it to grow over a foot high (huge mistake matted with sh*t)

its been going on over 18months i have lived here. Always in the same sort of area.

i have NEVER seen the cat, the neighbours dont have cats and i have no pets. I do have a 2 yr old who plays in the garden so need to be careful what i use. so far i have tried..

    • growing the grass
    • covering the grass in netting aprox 3inches off the ground (cat shit ON the netting)
    • Citrus peel
    • mustard powder/chilli powder/pepper
    • spraying a mix of water & eucalyptus oil
    • "" "" "" & citronella oil
    • sprinkling dried lavender on the ground
    • ultra sonic cat scarer
    • i have 2 scardey cat plants on the grass - it craps beside them
    • garden wire across the toos of the fences (cant get under only over)
    • deep heat spray on used tea bags
    • various cat repellant sticks/powders/granules/sprays
    • a 2litre bottle of water to reflect
    • a life like resin cat
    • had mums border terrier pee in the garden & crap which i left the shit there for 2 weeks to try and throw the scent of the cat... Didnt work!
    • several windmills large, medium and small.

NEVER seen the cat so i can't spray it with water etc...

i can't use spikes because of my daughter running around and limited to what chemicals etc i have a chain link fence ive out garden wire above but its still getting in and nothing to fasten any barbed wire or carpet grips too as the posts aren't high enough. unless somehow i can balance the grips to the chain link and tie it on?

Any other suggestions? All i can think of now is to use bonemeal sprinkled on the grass...?

    Thanks in advance.. Melody

Get a water scarecrow - available from Amazon etc.

Are you sure it is a cat? Not a fox using your garden as a toilet!

Whatever it is, a water scarecrow will get it!

Dad suggested a fox but the faeces dont look like a fox's.

Does the water scarecrow require mains water? I don't have an outdoor water supply only a kitchen tap...

  • Melody2, I got little pots (similar to small yoghut pots) and put about 3-4 old teabags in each, and poured in some Jeyes fluid, then filled up the pot just to below rim with water. It stinks. So far they have stayed away.

However one day I saw one of the pots knocked over, and so had to top up. Every so often you have to top up.

The Jeyes fluid stinks, best setting it up outside in ventilation. It was realively inexpensive for a small can of the stuff.

p.s. Like you I tried many things, nothing really works.

  • ps. you can put the small pots at each entry point. Obviously if you have young kids, take care they know not to touch them.

there are no entry points its in the middles of my lawn. But thankyou. I certainly will try this! (Where the brown looking grass is) im killing my grass from using various products

  • They must jump over from some point. You could put it at the base of where you see them jump. Failing that if you leave the pots there by the brown patches you will see, they will run away.

The only problem is you'll have the pots in sight and if you are sitting in your seats you wont have fresh air it will be the stink of these.

Some people just use the tea bag and dab a bit on and leave it in place. In a way it will biodegrade too. I think it may work, but it really stinks too for us as humans.

Let us know how it goes. image
