I was brought up with the metric system at school but find it easy and beneficial to swap between that and imperial depending on the subject and who I am talking to.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
My 3 Dicentra spectabilis 'Alba' specimens, planted in June 2014, are in full bloom. Each plant is about 65 cm tall and 85 cm wide (and still growing!). A very gracious plant.
EDIT.- Just noticed that on this BBC site that plant's height is given as 120 cm. I'd be surprised. Maybe someone did not convert properly from feet & inches to centimeters.
I agree papi Jo, my alba var. is 2 years old in its spot and never grows much more than 75cm. If I'm perfectly honest the alba and red variety are nice but the original is much more spectacular.
They take me back to my childhood, we always called them lady in a bath. ????

No snow but still frosty in the shade at 8am this morning. But my dicentra is still well protected by nettles so it will be OK
