Montbretia eradication

My husband likes montbretia & the garden was full of it when I met him. I've managed to get rid of some of it by digging up corms & plastering the leaves with roundup but there's sill loads coming through . I want it all gone - any tips from anyone who has successfully got rid of large amounts of it?

Me too pansyface - I don't know what annoys me the most in my garden ..the ground elder or montbretia
Thanks all - was hoping there would be a new miracle cure/quick fix but I guess I'll just have to keep going the way I am!
I have been fighting a similar battle in my back garden, and in my front garden the battle is with grape hyacinths. I don't believe there is a quick cure for either plant. Good luck!
Maisie, why are you trying to get rid of it all if your OH likes it? It won't grow here and I like it.
Busy-Lizzie - he likes but I don't! It was everywhere but I've got it looking more like a garden than a montbretia jungle now & I want to keep it that way. It's mild here too Verdun & the stuff is everywhere
Isn't it odd how some things do well in some gardens and not in others. I have montbretia. Some transplanted from Firsborn's garden and some bought from a grden centre. It does OK but not invasive. In fact I have moved both clumps and the place I moved it from has not seen any regrowth. It's just a normal garden plant here.
I've tried ordinary Montbretia and Crocosmias, Lucifer, Emily McKenzie and a couple of others and they all died. Verdun, please, would you have any idea why? I gave my son some of the Lucifer (someone gave me lots) and it grew beautifully in his garden. Is it too hot and dry in Dordogne?
