...up to you but I wouldn't bother personally.... as you are in Scarborough, your soil is probably slightly acidic, loamy clay....and as you intend to develop a Cottage Garden, then most plants for this type of garden will do well for you, as far as soil is concerned....coping with NE climate conditions might be a different matter...
