at least we know what's wrong with these ones! anything i can do?

  • I've copied this for you from the Eagle website:

"This is the white powder that is seen on the plants (see photo at right). This can be kept at bay by spraying the plants with a product called 'Systhane' which is available from most good garden centres. We spray in anticipation from early June, and continue once a month for the rest of the flowering season. Dry conditions and lack of air circulation (plants too close together) can cause this problem. Dry conditions can be sorted by watering the foliage regularly."

.....prolly a little late for this year, but worth remembering for future years.

I've had loads, they are taller than me, getting to the top of the trellis, need picking again, but - can't succeed all the time - the outdoor tomatoes were rubbish, got blight and the yellow courgettes taste horrid.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I decided this year to buy heirloom sweet peas seeds  Black Night ,  Senator  and Mrs Collier, I am glad I did wow . Long stems with 3 to 4 flowers per stem and the scent is wonderful and the colour combination is lovely I am constantly picking flowers for my house that's me hooked  on heirloom sweet peas they are growing in a large deep container with a wigwam trellis
