The yellowing and wilting seems to be spreading, I' ve pulled some up and cut out as many yellowing/ browning stems as I could, I think I' ll only get another week of flowers, I cannot imagine what has happened, if David reads this, or has anyone seen this happen and any idea why?

I have Land of Hope and Glory (or should I say Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance) on my favourites playlist RM, I absolutely love it...it's so uplifting and makes me cry every time I watch Brassed Off image Hope the babies were ok with the fireworks, my beagle baby Daisy hates them and goes mad, Ollie however would stand and watch them....he isn't a normal dog!! My little man isn't overly keen on them even now at 13, never has been.

I'm not sure about the SP's, have they been watered enough? I'm only asking that because some if my Poached Egg Ahas gone yellow in the laves and I know that's because it's git too dry as I've used rubbish compost and it isn't holding any moisture (grrrr...lesson learnt there!!)

  • Rosemummy, of course I would have wanted you to have the best sweet peas ever.....Truth is, I haven't a clue about the early demise of yours, it could be lots of different reasons.

I love all the last night of the proms favourites! I do like punk and metal too so I like to think I'm clinging onto the very last of my youth!

Oh and to stay on topic, I just found misplaced packet of 'heritage' SP seeds. I presume heritage just means the older more aromatic ones rather than a variety!

hi annie, i'm a classic rock girl myself, i do like a bit of classical but can't say i'm a proms fan, the night before was heaven17 the night after was ladysmith black mambazo, not for me,not enough guitar, now back to topic, been out to drench remainig sp's and give them a light feed...the ones in the pots have a white powdery covering on some leaves now !!!AAAAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!

  • Rosemummy.......the 'white powdery covering' is mildew....this is another sign that they were planted too closely. It prevents air circulating freely between plants and thus provides an ideal habitat for the mildew spoors to grow.

thanks david planting in pot was an experiment they did ok up til now, think maybe it's the giant fig tree that they've grown into, pot 1 foot square 6 plants in, is that too close?
