  • We have Foehn (pronounced fern) effect going on here at the moment. It's when moist air from the west rushes up over the mountains and warm-up coming down the other side. It's 25C in the greenhouse. Spent the morning power washing the patio.

I have spent the last three days outdoors! A garden on Thursday, and I saw my first butterfly of the year image Yesterday in my garden, getting the tender plants out of the greenhouse and having a general tidy up, and I saw my first ladybird of the year image

Today has been allotment based, digging, raking and planting image

And my goodness, doesn't it feel good to be out in the sun?! image

Just come in from gardening, and had to abandon my fleece half way through.  First time this year for shirtsleevesimage.  Three butterflies and lots of bumbly beesimage

Three days outdoors on the trot for me too - starting to feel as though some progress is being made.

Today - first sighting of ladybirds, huge bumble bee on my hellebore, clouds of gnats in the evening sun, sparrows, blackbirds, wrens and robins all very busy in the hedge and lots of green buds poking through the soil. Also first (in 2015) mug of tea on the bench in the sun without a coat on - happy sunbathing cat by my side - distant hum of lawn mower. I can definitely feel my sap rising now!!! image

After I'd had enough of digging I sat on a bench for a while and almost nodded off in the sunshine - but OH came home and woke me up - just as well, the cassoulet for supper should have been in the oven by then image  Think we're eating a bit late tonight

The very north of Scotland had light rain showers. I just carried in gardening. It was pretty mild out.

Hi Tootles I'm originally from  Nottingham. I've not been home for years. I'm always trying to plant things that grow great in Nottingham, that people tell me don't survive here. I think part of me is trying to grow a piece of home.  I always love a Nottingham update.image

Beautiful sunny day here in Sussex.

All my washing flapping in the light breeze was dry quite quickly.

A good tidy up round the garden, weeding done and a few shrubs sorted out. A enjoyable day in the garden at last.

We have a weather warning. We are expecting 80mph winds tonight. We are on the top of a cliff above the sea so we a usually hammered. Our last weather warning was at the end of January. We lost our electricity for two days. I have the latest episode of gardeners world downloaded to my fully charged tablet. So I'm set for a power cut.

Runnybeak I had to look up the road I didn't know it. I did have a friend who lived in that area. I did go to a lovely bluebell woodland with her, my memory is a bit vague. I do remember falling in large stream and being soaked for most if the day.

Lunaria - hope everything is ok tonight. A cliff top location sounds idyllic - but it also obviously bears the full force of nature's more ferocious offerings. Fingers crossed for you. image
