Agapanthus 'Midnight Star' in a pot on the terrace
Geranium 'Rozanne' trailing over the edge of the Shady Bank
Rosa 'Bonica'
Fennel in the herb bed outside the kitchen window - such a favourite with the hover flies. It's usually also visited by hornets at this time of year, but I've not seen any yet,
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Looking great Dove. Bonica is beautiful - is she a shrub or a climber? Love the way you have picked up the colour of the agapanthus with that purple petunia .....another idea has been added to my little book
Bonica is such a good rose, described in some places as 'procumbent' and sometimes as 'ground covering' although I think that's misleading. I've grown it in three gardens and once established it behaves like a good shrub, as wide as it is tall and it flowers for England - http://www.davidaustinroses.co.uk/english/Showrose.asp?Showr=944
It's also a fabulous pure pink, without a hint of yellow.
It's only shortcoming is that it has hardly any fragrance, and I wouldn't normally grow a scentless rose, but Bonica is so good I just can't resist it. It doesn't even mind a fair bit of shade. It also looks beautiful in a jug with some alchemilla mollis - Wonky may remember there was always some on the dining table in the summer when we lived at The White House (no, not that one ).

Verdun, if you get a chance will you please post a photo of your Kyushu. I bought a small one at Tatton a few weeks back and am going to put it in a pot until it gets to a decent size and I can decide where to put it. Its a bit straggly at the minute and i'd like to see what a decent sized one looks like.
