Susan, the yellow flowered plant is Sisyrhinchium and the protected plants are my smallish box balls currently being wee-ed to death by the pooch hopefully they will survive better when they're grown up or the pooch will learn to leave them alone
That creeping yellow weed on the lawn is quite prolific where I live also. It's a type of clover although I don't remember the name.
Verdone lawn weed killer did the trick for me and it doesn't leave any black patches! It is grass friendly but I just targeted the weeds. Either that or you can comb it up from the lawn with your fingers till you find the root but it is quite stubborn to pull up!
My front lawn is quite clear now with minimal effort yet I have seen some who hardly have any grass left!

kniphofia green jade
volunteer echinacea-4 ft. tall, sturdy stem, good colour-lucky me.
from it's appearance and location probably a cross between veronica and veronicatrum- colour is silvery lavender.
Verdun, I like your cheerful gaillardia. Contrasts well with the phormium. Nothing the matter with a bit of colour - look at Great Dixter!

Just looked it up, it's called yellow suckling clover or lesser trefoil.
Lovely pictures everyone! Mine aren't up to the same standard but as a newbie I'm happy
More great pix from everyone
WW - reaping the rewards of your hard work now
Verd - I'd get rid of the salvia, keep the Gaillardia and add some more hot colours (deep crimson) to the scheme for a tropical look....
....naughty fairy
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
