Fidget - it is a south facing slope, so gets full sun. I do find that side drier than the other (there is another border facing it on the other side of the grass path) ....I assume that's the tree roots taking a lot of moisture.
Hollie - the big white blooms are Hydrandgea Annabelle - you can see the faded flowerheads still standing in the first photo (March) ....such a great plant
Maureen - the stone you can see is a sort of retaining wall that OH and my Dad built - the soil is actually a mixture of clay and hundreds of years of fallen leaves. We mulch it in spring with compost or FYM, and just let the worms do the rest of the work for us. There is a fair bit of weeding to do, even through the mulch.....sheeps sorrel is my nemesis.
Brrrrrrr Fairy . We've only had 2 frosts here this year ....so much for the DM's coldest winter for a century.
Would be great if you have some pics of your garden through the seasons to put together too.....and everyone else for that matter. Cheers up a grey December day

I'm presently helping my sister in law sort her garden, one of her boarders is very similar to your. Built up on stone.
How do you prepare your soil, my sister in laws, boarder is full of moss, very compacted, poor drainage.
Thanks folks

Gorgeous chicky. Posted on the camera thread with your 'boot' nest pic. Really lovely
Took a frosty couple earlier
I couldn't get the gate open earlier - frozen shut! There's a slight thaw now but it's very foggy instead
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
