Not so much done had to sort out pots due to vine weevil grubs wanted to prepare bed ready for sowing I am keen to follow M and get some different beetroot seeds his looked worth a go . Just hope there not all sold out because they were on GW. Tomorrow looks like being a busy day
Hosta you really must stop rubbing it in that you can keep an Easter egg for a whole year I sat down with a cuppa and low and behold my egg disappeared my theory is if it goes in one hit then it doesn't count
Off out now vine weevil grub hunting to use up all those calories Have a lovely day everyone
My neighbour has just given me a load of dalias surplus to his requirement so I am going to plant them at the Allottment , had a couple in pots last year that over wintered in G/H taking these up to A as well
just been reading Saha Ravens site on how to plant them
any tips ?
Primrose , vine weevil hunting will definitely burn off the Easter egg , in fact I would say you need the energy boast , best of luck with the killing
Propagator stuffed with seeds on Friday and 2 pots have germinated in less than 48 hours. All 'dead' pots emptied or put in gh when discovered to have plants in them. Top dressed cherry and plum trees in pots. Planted an english lavender and positioned solar lights around the garden.
Moved some plants, planted a couple of new ones, edged the lawn and checked the greenhouse watered cuttings and seeds. Tomorrow the plan is to get a place ready for new clematis to be planted and mow the lawns.
Still very cold here today and with a naughty north-easterly making it feel worse so I've spent some time gluing polystyrene insulation panels to the garage door, moved the trays of spring onion and beetroot seeds to the greenhouse along with the onion sets in their little pots, pruned 3 more clems back now they're showing growth and taken cuttings of 4 clems.
That meant I had to check the internet for one of the names and lo and behold I've ordered 3 new scented clems from my favourite supplier whose website handily lists hardiness in temps below 0C. Checked the recently butchered hosta divisions and everyone is doing fine as are the recently potted up roses I rescued from the borders last autumn. They were struggling so spent the winter in the greenhouse and it seems to have done the trick - Geoff Hamilton, Munstead Wood and Benjamin Britten do not like the cold winds here.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
