I bought a cheap one from Aldi this year, and it has a lovely fat bud on it. But the one I had from same place last year (also bloomed well) has only shown leaf shoots this year, although I did as recommended. Rested then fed, but it's had leaves on it the whole year round, though they turned yellow and dropped off.
Maybe last years one wants a rest this year. I'll feed it and nurture, with fingers crossed for next year. I can be patient where my plants are involved.
Since being given the "hide under a brown paper bag" treatment both of mine now have flower spikes - one is last year's Lidl bulb, the other is this year's. My two grandsons each had a red one - one has produced two enormous red spikes, the other only one. My third grandson had a pink one, also from Lidl, and his bloomed at the beginning of January - shorter stem but beautiful flower. The lesson to be learned, perhaps, is that each bulb is an individual and soem are more b****minded than others!
There's a lot about amaryllis care in the GW magazine online.
Just wondering, at the moment al, i have are massive leaves, When will they drop off? and when they do what should i do then?
At the moment it is still in the window, and is getting a bit of water whenever it is too dry.
I agree with Gardenning Granny that each bulb is an individual, so i'll hang on with it and pray for a flower next year? (how do i get it to next year lol!)
Vera has four trumpets open with one more to come, red nymph has two with one to come and the white one at the back I think is jewel has three not quite open yet and one more in that box that I hope is black pearl
This year I have not given them as much water or feed while the stems have been growing I think that may have made them stronger, the leaves are a nuisance but I have put the pots into wine boxes I had given and I'm pleased with the way they look grouped together
I can turn each pot in the box unfortunately I can't turn this picture round
double click turn it round. I love that idea - looks really good - perhaps I need to persuade friends to give me boxes of wine like that.....a few hints now for my birthday coming up....

That is a stunning group little-ann - and all standing so nicely. Mine always have a tendency to topple over once they start to flower!
My lidl one continues it's upward way - how much further can it go, I wonder, but the bud is big so I'm hopeful....

It's ok when it's enlarged
