I too have great big leaves but no sign of a flower image

  • Me tooimage. It had flowers last year but has come up blind (I think that's the term) this year. I kept it cool until Autumn then brought it inside, warmed it up, watered it, fed it and talked to it - nowt' but big shiny leaves. Should I just chuck it or might it flower next year?

  • feed it whilst it is growing well and allow it to die back naturally (though sometimes they refuse to die back - b**** minded ones) and that should put enough goodness back in the bulb to get it flower again.  I'm still waiting for my bought one (and one from last year) to actually consider throwing up any kind of shoot.  Biog fat solid bulbs - I'm waiting hopefully.

Well I had bought mine start Dec and had hoped to give it to someone as a birthday pressie (ended up giving something else), so about the 15th-20th dec i planted it, and all i have is massive leaves (4 in total but top leaves are far bigger/longer) but no sign of any flower shoot. When will these leaves die back? As i read somewhere that next year it should flower as it is an immature bulb- hense why it didnt flower. Any idea how long i will have these ridiculous leaves for?

haha well seems like a hit or a miss, you have no leaves and i have no flower, combined it would be beautiful lol! I will take a pic of mine when i get hime, it looks stupid, I'd have been happier with a flower...

  • panic not - the leaves will follow and then can be fed to produce flowers next year

  • I think it just might be producing a flower spike.  Tiny so far but it looks fatter than a leaf..................... Fingers crossed!  Mags

7 years ago I bought an amaryllis bulb. So far it's flowered twice!! However, this year its got lots of leaves coming up again and what i think is a flower stalk image. Wondering if the original bulb has produced offsets so after it's done what it's going to do i might investigate. Haven't got the heart to throw it out as i actually bought it when i was visiting my aunty who's since passed away. If it makes sense it's sentimental value
