I've not ordered from Chiltern before but am about to place an order as they have the California poppies and hopefully the kind of monarda I'm after (don't know the name)
I ordered from Moles and Nicky's seeds for most of this year's requirement. I'll report back with my findings in due course
Please do Victoria Sponge. I'm so glad I asked on here for advice as I'd probably just have gone for the same old stuff from Unwins.
I have gone for;
Antirrhinum Majus madam butterfly double mix
Cosmos double click snow puff
Orlaya
Matthiola giant excelsior
Alyssum crystal white
Iberis candy cane
Acrodinum double giant mix
Didiscus caeruleus
Dahlia early bird mixed
Zinnia dahlia flower mix
Echinops ritro
Scabiosa perfection white
Scabiosa Beaujolais bonnets
Zinnia whirlwig mixed
Verbena bonnaries
Pheeeeew! My eyes are so much bigger than my belly! In addition to those I've ordered a load from Sarah Raven too! Quite a bit more expensive so I will look forwards to seeing if it really is worth paying more for seeds.
Nice mix Tootles I just looked up the ones I didn't know.
I think it's nice to find different seeds by shopping around, esp perennial stuff. If i can't find the plant I've started looking for the seeds to try to grow it instead...
I ordered the Scabiosa BB too - hope they're really that colour!! I also ordered some Penstemon called Lilac Frost which look quite exciting
I've never had problems with seeds bought online, though the mainstream seed merchants are a tad pricey .
A retail shop floor might be the ideal environment for shoppers (at least during the day) but it's far from ideal storage conditions for seed. Warehouse stock will be kept at a cooler, more stable temperature.
Germination rates will be better for seeds with hermetically sealed foil inner wraps
I have just received some little lavender plugs from Mr fothergill's I am delighted with them , they are healthy and raring to go. I paid only the postage and packing charges which were around £6 and for that I received 42 super little plugs . I'm delighted and I would recommend from this experience.

Just received some Clivia seeds from Chiltern , top quality seeds.
Hope so Mark. I usually use Unwins but they've been a bit hit and miss over the last couple of years.
I would highly recommend Suttons. A good catalogue, I find. Also D. T.Brown
They've arrived! I feel like a right pro - nine of your pictures on packets for this expert!?!?
Oooh! What have you bought Tootles?
