What enjoyment I had out in the garden.  I pulled out a bramble that measured over twenty metres long.  it had wound itself around my tulip tree, several big box bushes which I intend to practise topiary on one of these years, a huge Cornus sibericus alba and I could not believe it was responding to my energetic tugging and unravelng intact.  So satisfying when that happens.  While I was doing it the birds kept chiding me as they flew out but I expect they have gone back to their feasting again now  I came in with a handful of microleaves to garnish my soup tonight.  So lovely to have fresh salads all the year round.

Two weeks today since I had my Xmas orchid and still I gasp at its beauty when I see it in the kitchen each morning.

Very mild indeed in Bristol today.  No heating needed and it still looks calm this morning so should be able to get some more work done before the wind and rain comes in the afternoon.

Same weather here Marion, we seem to get very similar. Do you use the weather forecast on this GW site, most times very accurate.

The rain is forecast for 3pm, so plenty of time for some outside work and fresh air.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

Quite mild in Dordogne too this morning, good this for me as heating broke down, sorted now, plumber has just been.

I saw that Garden Revival too, lovely daffodils, must try to find some Thalia for next year. Do you have them, Marion? Lovely scent, they said.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Yes. I planted Thalia many years ago and they are well established now, Busy-Lizzie.  Lyn I consult the BBC weather site for the forecast for Henbury every morning.  There is a weather station at Filton and I am just a few hundred yards from Filton Airfield so get accurate measurements very quickly.  I expect the GW site comes from there too being the BBC.

Managed to get a bit of ivy pruning done before it got too breezy.  Thousands of bulbs emerging now.  The autumn planted onions and shallots are doing well.

GW has its own car park just off Whiteladies Road. Shares it with the DIY SOS vansimage

i held the door open for someone at work today amd it was the guy who does the weather on the local bbc news. He is teeny tiny!

Ah, filming can be so deceptive!  I remember meeting a then famous film star on the Queen Elizabeth, Alan Ladd, when coming home from studying in America.  I was astonished how small he was and was told by a steward that he did all his scenes with the female stars standing on a box!  Very windy in Bristol tonight, Fruitcake.is it not?

It's very windy tonight Marion but probably seems like a breeze compared to what they've had in Scotland image

i will be at the allotment at first light to make sure my water butt and compost bin lids are (located!) and secured as I'm pretty sure they'll have gone for a little ride on the wind
