The last one stood out to me too chicky, way beyond my abilities, the sort of garden I can only keep dreaming about.
I thought the second one was most like the way mine may go in the future, I liked all the trellis work and 'garden room' thing going on.
Not really sure why it won though as there were no clues given in the show really why it won over the first and last - except perhaps the first and last couples were nicer people ard were kinder to the other couples than the winning couple.. sadly that was the message I was getting.
I just watch show me your garden. I liked the third garden the most, not over stuck on the iron pergola I preferred just the topiary . I didn't really get the competitive part to it either. The only thing what annoyed me though was one of the narrators say - end of part one etc it just bug me
Nice to see some gardens, but I didn't like the programme - it seemed like a gardening version of Four in a Bed - with people making snide remarks - perhaps I was feeling a little over-sensitive - time will tell
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I rather like Four in a Bed as I used to do B&B, so I like seeing what other people do - and I'm nosey! I think the TV director asks them to make snide comments and the commentary doesn't always help. But most of the comments in the gardening programme were of admiration.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Don't get me wrong BL, we watch Four in a Bed too, but some of the competitors are rather mean-spirited and while that's sort of ok in a commercial enterprise sort of competition, people's gardens are so personal that I think you'd have to be very thick-skinned not to feel upset at unkind remarks about your garden.
So much tv is very formulaic nowadays

Watched the programme last night. I didn't think there were any nasty comments - people seemed to be going out of their way to be nice about one anothers efforts - but I still didn't enjoy the programme. The commentary was quite irritating & aimed at those with minimal gardening knowledge & the competition & challenge elements were a nonsense.
I enjoyed looking at the gardens (no3 was my favourite) &, once again, was full of admiration for some people's vision, design skills and plantsmanship (why can't I do that...?) - but ended up fast forwarding through the 'challenges' and 'comments'/ scoring.
Might give it one more try if it moves away from London & I need a garden-shot.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Haven't watched yet, Ive recorded it and will give it a go. I'm really nosy when it comes to seeing what other people are up to, especially in their gardens but I just cant stand any of the programmes that involve so called challenges. They irritate me to death and seem so contrived. Pet hates are, Come Dine with Me, All the masterchef programmes, Talent shows like the Voice and X Factor and those Top Model programmes. First and Secondborn watch loads of them, and I can't decide what annoys the most, the contestants, the narrator or the judges. Even went of Stricltly this year. They would be first in room 101 for me. Mmmm that could be a new thread.
Must admit if I was going to watch any of those programmes, it would be the Voice. And I agree the challenges weren't really challenges, more of a practical exercise. My OH did say that the lady in the second couple and eventual winner did make a few sharp comments though.

I enjoyed it for the same reasons as Chicky.
It was good to watch, need to see a few more I think.
