  • Hope you have succeeded, the secret to giving liquids via syringe is to tip the head up to 45 degrees, put the end of the syringe into the side of the cheek (like a pouch) and run it in gently.

Thank you Steve, everyone has helped tremendously  .our saluki is picking up slowly,I have  coaxed  and fed him by hand. He had some chicken and pasta .he had eaten a little more than the day before .

But today I cooked him some shell pasta in gravy then thickened it with arrowroot I mixed it with chunks of best steak  I found in the freezer. He is eating a little more each day .this morning he also had some cod in breadcrumbs which I ovan cooked

While we enjoyed  sausage and mash.  image     for dinner.image

  • gran, have you got one of those thingys that holds the food/water bowls a bit higher? just thinking, if he has ear ache, he might not want to lower his head to drinkimage

Hi bekkie and Pauline thanks, yes we do use tubs for this and find them very useful ,when we first got lucky he couldn't bend his front leg as the traveller s who he was rescued from had run over his front paw , didn't take him to have it set properly so it caused him some problems at first .

What I am doing is regularly keep holding his dish out to him for a drink ,he is drinking a lot of milk ,just got stocked up with it  .picked up some minced beef for next few weeks , 're stocked  on eggs.lucky is partial to a scrambled egg.

Not bad is it .........OH is getting used to chappie too  and me  well i have toast and a cream bun !image

  • he really is Lucky to have you for his mom image

I agree - no hard feelings Hostafan.

On the subject of dogs, our Border Terrier has lost his bark. We were out all day Saturday and know from neighbours that he and his side-kick howl when we are not here. A case of strained barking chords? He's fine otherwise, a good appetite and play-fighting with his buddy.

  • Most likely Fishy 65. I got my dog back minus her bark after a stay at kennels and i know she gets separation anxiety badly and will bark and not settle. It should calm over a few days and then come back all being well image
