  • I also watch their feet, as I used to compete in Ballroom and Latin in my youth. So I agree with Len's comments each week. Yes it's an entertainment prog but the dancing sometimes seems to come second place to the posturing and posing in my view.

I also agree with Panda, that the costumes detracted from the dancing.

And poor Anton! Does he get to choose a partner or do they pick the most awkward women for him?

Very pleased the voting public has at last got it right and sent off one of the non dancers.    Scott may have improved but he'll never be any good as hasn't a clue about rhythm or deportment or technique.

Alison clearly has rhythm but it's not enough.   Her feet are heavy and badly placed and all the activity is up top.    She doesn't need heels to help her move.  I now do my ballroom casses and balls in one inch heels following reconstructive foot surgery on both feet in 2013.  I still can't do the samba bounce or the jive but everything else is OK, including salsa.

I can't understand Judy Murray.  She's fit as a fiddle but stiff as a board.  Not a single cell of her body seems to feel the music and respond.

Totally agree with Dove about ages and sizes.  Our dance club has people aged 9 to 69 and all shapes and sizes.  It's fun, it's sociable, it exercises the brain and the body so is great for both mental and physical health.    What's not to love?

    I don't, I love it.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Me too, going to start getting serious in the next few weeks now.

Feel sorry for Anthon he always seems to get the no hoppers

    Such a nice guyimage

  • It must be a fix who gets who. By law of averages Anton should have had one decent dancer. Such a nice man, it really isn't fair.

  • It's a TV show - not a serious dancing competition!  That's the role that Anton plays - he's good at it image

It is a dance competition for people who dance or I should say danced, a very niche pastime now for proper dancing couples. It is a TV show for the rest hence Judy and Alison still being in the show. I love them both but do not expect to see dancing, Caroline now there you see real dancing, watch the feet.

My own Grandchildren following in Granddad and Nana's footsteps go to ball room dancing classes which have full capacity, they are very good I watch the video's, children dance naturally, my Daughter is also learning  at a dance school and go on Dance cruises or Hotel breaks, I can see the difference between those learning early and those later, not as stiff as Judy but not free and easy either. I do think some of the professional dancers will not be there next year, the young ones are more energetic which seems to be what people want?
